Celebration of the Eucharist is produced by the Office of Radio &
Television. The daily televised Mass reaches out to the home-bound, and
especially those who have been disconnected from their local parish communities
through illness or age. Its purpose is to provide for the spiritual well-being
of those who may need the prayers of the church community at challenging times
in their lives. Viewers send in their requests for prayers for
the living or deceased and special intentions. The names of those remembered are
scrolled at the beginning of Mass, and a limited number are included during the
Prayer of the Faithful, thus allowing the viewer to take an active role in the
celebration of Mass. Priests from throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford, as
well as from the Dioceses of Bridgeport and Norwich celebrate the
television Mass on a rotating basis. A past winner of a Catholic Communication
Campaign "Proclaim Award" for excellence in television programming,
the television Mass is viewed throughout Connecticut, as well as parts of Massachusetts
and New York.
The Mass is broadcast every day at 10:00 a.m. on WCCT-TV and on Cablevision’s Channel 84 serving Fairfield County. It can also be seen Saturday and Sunday at 5:00 a.m. on WCCT-TV.
